To commemorate Black History month, we invited one of our parents, an original Freedom Rider, Hank Thomas, to talk with our students. He and his lovely wife, Yvonne, spoke to our kids about their experiences with discrimination and racism. Mr. Thomas recounted his run ins with the KKK, his experiences as a Freedom Rider, and some memorable experiences during the Vietnam War, Civil Rights Movement, and his success moving forward. They left our students with a message of hope, determination, resilience, and tolerance.
