OUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS
LEARN TO LOVE TO LEARN!
The educational foundation children build in their early years should engage their heart and mind and establish discipline, creativity, and character. We have 2 main goals in elementary school: engage in rigorous academics and encourage strong character development.
Smoke Rise Prep Elementary students receive instruction in the 4 main disciplines: Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science. Our teachers utilize a variety of methods such as direct teaching, partner reading, team/group activities, small group instruction, modeling, labs, games and many other methods to engage students and teach them strong academic foundational skills. We currently use Houghton Mifflin Journeys (ELA), GoMath (math), and Georgia Science, as well as Studies Weekly (social studies).
Educating the whole child is a top priority. At the beginning of the day, all students attend a morning assembly with activities like team building, character lessons, student celebrations, group games, and more! Students also have recess daily as well as attend specials such as STEM, Art, Music, EdTech, Health, Library, or PE. Teachers also take students on field trips throughout the year to connect real life world to concepts learned in school.
It is our commitment to position students for success in higher education and spark a love of learning for a lifetime. By encouraging high expectations, pushing them academically and providing outlets, mentors, and family engagement activities, students thrive and begin to develop a strong sense of self that they carry with them through middle school school and beyond.
